This IB VISUAL ARTS Summer Course is for students who wish to expand their creative horizons in IB VISUAL ARTS.

This course will provide the students with the investigative, analytical, and creative tools they will need to succeed in the new IB VISUAL ARTS curriculum. Students will develop skills and an understanding of art along with visits to varied exhibitions in Vienna, such as: the Kunsthistorisches, museum of Applied Arts, Mumok museum and Belvedere Palace. This will immerse them in the thriving creative world of Vienna, and enrich their development as young artists. The artists that they experience may directly inspire their own work. This is a vital aspect of the Comparative Study (20%).

During the course students will have the opportunity to explore and expand their own creativity in different techniques, such as: the use of charcoal, pencils, paint, collage, pastels and photography, in the ‘studio’.  This is the Practical (40%) element of the course.

Vienna is an ideal location for students, its cultural flare stimulating their awareness and passion for art. Students will be inspired to become creative, independent thinkers, and engaged in their own work of art, as documented in their Process Journals (40%)

  • 18 hours (3 days) or 25 hours (5 days) and open studio time every day until 10pm
  • Art lessons will take place in Baroque rooms located in a beautiful Austrian Palace
  • A range of tools will be provided, to complete the process journal and their own art work
  • Small group sizes (max 3-5 students), to work in a supportive and stimulating environment
  • Experienced IB Visual art teachers and examiners providing individual advice and guidance
  • Visits to varied exhibitions and art museums in Vienna to inspire student's art work, and research
  • Afternoon sporting activities and individual private guidance provided

Students can combine the IB VISUAL ART Course with the PRE IB or MID IB Summer Course.

We welcome students to take this unique opportunity in one of the world's most creative art city!
